Beauty Editor Laura Mulley shares the must-have beauty presents that are top of her list this Christmas. Whether you're looking for Christmas gift ideas for the beauty junkie in your life, or fancy treating yourself to perfect party makeup, these are the seasonal beauty buys we're lusting after.
ghd Platinum+ Rose Gold
Gift Set, £199
“If your old straighteners have seen better days, Christmas is the time to ask someone nicely to treat you, and let’s be honest, no one does them better than ghd. This Christmas their smartest styler, the Platinum+, is available in this dreamy rose gold shade and comes in a stylish vanity case, so no more tripping over loose wires.”
Charlotte Tilbury Limited Edition Filmstar
Bronze & Glow Set, £60
“I’ve just hit pan on this, my favourite contouring and highlighting palette, and so this Christmas I’m hoping to replace it with this limited-edition, spangly, Swarovski crystal-studded version, complete with a mini brush. The two powders are beautifully flattering - the bronzer is the perfect ever-so-slightly-pearlescent shade for fair skin tones, while the champagne highlighter adds subtle radiance without depositing big flecks of glitter.”
Slip Sleep Mask, £50
“A posh silk eye mask - totally indulgent and definitely not necessary, but isn’t that what Christmas gifts are all about? Slip’s are made from mulberry silk, which feels cool and super-soft, and fit snugly over the face to effectively block out distracting light. There is some evidence that using silk masks and pillowcases stops skin creases, reduces hair frizz and absorbs less of your skincare product than cotton ones, but for me this is really all about making my bedtime routine as relaxing as possible.”
Huda Nude Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette, £27
“An eyeshadow palette isn’t just for Christmas - yes, I’m up for a bit of sparkle, but I want one I can wear all year round too. Step forward this mini one from Huda, which is made up of four soft matte for everyday wear plus four pretty glitters. It’s a nude palette, but it’s certainly not boring. This one, Nude Light, is a mix of soft pinks and browns that perfectly complement my fair complexion, while Nude Medium and Nude Rich will suit darker skin tones.”
Gucci Rouge à Lèvres Lunaison in 25 Goldie Red, £38
“It’s expensive, but have you ever seen anything so beautiful? Plenty of brands have released glitter-flecked lipsticks this Christmas but for me, this one wins, from the luxuriously weighty, Art Deco-style packaging to the highly pigmented, true-red colour. As I’m unlikely to find a Gucci Marmont bag under the Christmas tree, this will do nicely, thank you very much.”
L’Occitane Delicious Almond Collection, £49
“I’m not normally a big fan of Christmas gift sets (there always seems to be an unwanted foot cream or loofah in the box...) but this is one I’d be thrilled to receive. It contains four brilliant products - a soap, hand cream, shower oil and body lotion - in my favourite, marzipan-like L’Occitane fragrance. Even better, £10 from each purchase goes to Woodland Trust, helping to plant native trees across the UK.”
