Mother’s Day is going to look very different this year, with many of us unable to spend it with our loved ones. As a brand for women, Mother’s Day has always been an important day for us to mark, as we use it to celebrate motherhood in its many forms and shine a light on the important women in our lives. Things are still a long way from normality, but it feels like the light at the end of the tunnel is finally beginning to edge into view – so whilst we might be celebrating virtually, we’re optimistic for a summer of reunions and reflection. This year, social distancing measures mean we can’t celebrate Mother’s Day in our usual fashion, so instead we’re using it to put the spotlight on some of the amazing women at Wallis HQ, as they talk about motherhood, and share how they’ll be marking Mothering Sunday this year.
"I usually celebrate Mother’s Day by giving my Mum something handmade, so it’s a bit more personal! It varies year after year, a homemade card, a painting, a home baked afternoon tea etc. This year it will be a hand tied bouquet of flowers."
"Cheers to all who Mother! One of my favourite things is to all gather on the Sunday and have a roast dinner and chat about the week ahead and what we are all doing. As the mother of teens it's a great way to engage and pause devices whilst eating! Lockdown has been good in that we are all safe and well and are fortunate that we managed to continue to work and learn, but now it’s time to spread their wings and become the adults that they want to be."
"This year I’ll be celebrating being a Dog mum, spending Mothers Day with my 2 dogs, Max and Fred, by doing our favourite thing in our favourite place, going for a walk on the beach!"
"Like so many, it’s been a year since I hugged my mum and since she has been able to give her grand-children a big squeeze. This Mother’s Day will still be a day of virtual catch ups for us, but we are all hoping it won’t be long until group hugs, coffee and cake sharing and silly selfies can start again."
'This year's Mother's Day celebration will be more low-key than usual. I'll be spending time with the family, and getting outdoors for a lockdown dog walk. I'll also facetime my 2 mums (mum and mother in law) and toast to them with a glass of wine!'
