Here at Wallis HQ, we’re all getting used to working from home, and wanted to share the ways in which we’re staying connected, filling our time, and keeping positive. We sent a quick-fire Q&A round to the team – so whether you’re looking for some inspo or just want to get to know us a little better here’s what WFH is like for some of team Wallis.
The thing that’s bringing me joy…
What’s bringing me the most joy is being able to spend this difficult time with my parents and husband. We came to Cardiff to live with them for a few weeks/months as they have much more room to be able to work from home.
How I’m staying active…
I am working out most days, either yoga, hit sessions for half an hour or do some free-standing weights.
How I’m staying positive…
Speaking to friends and family via Zoom and also remembering how fortunate we are to be safe.
Currently bingeing…
On the box set – Suits. As it is 9 seasons long what better opportunity to watch it. I have been cooking a lot for my family and have started to learn how to Bake.
I can’t wait to…
Socialise with friends again and to see all my work colleagues! Oh and to go on a holiday eventually!
The thing that’s bringing me joy…
Getting time to talk more to my Spanish partner now we are both on lockdown and being generally grateful.
How I’m staying active…
Meditation, riding my bike and organising my flat for spring.
How I’m staying positive…
Meditation, exercise, reading, and talking to my friends and family.
Currently bingeing…
I don’t do series, I prefer watching films – I never got a chance to watch them and now I can!
How I’m staying connected…
Zoom, house party to friends internationally, shouting to neighbours across balconies! And Whatsapp.
I can’t wait to…
Finally see friends and family in the flesh, meet my work colleagues, go for a drink, and go to the cinema.
The thing that’s bringing me joy…
In all this madness, there is a sense of community and appreciating for the NHS and carers and all that they do. Scheduling in daily virtual chats with family and friends, and savouring small moments rather than letting them go by whilst on autopilot – just being present.
How I’m staying active…
Taking part in workouts from Joe Wicks and Fitness Blender as well as gong for a run once day.
How I’m staying positive…
Maintaining a sense of routine and finding time to still add value to the day . This isn’t going to be forever so until then, this has forced us all to slow down and has certainly made me appreciate and feel grateful for every aspect of my life even more so.
Currently bingeing…
'The Handmaids Tale’ in the evening and listening to podcasts such as ‘Happy Place’ and ‘Table Manners’.
How I’m staying connected…
Regular Zoom calls and WhatsApp chats with work and colleagues to stay connected, and loving the daily virtual chats with family and friends using house party and facetime.
I can’t wait to…
Post lockdown, I cannot wait to finally be able to see my family and friends and have cuddles with my niece and nephew!
The thing that’s bringing me joy…
Fluffy socks, endless cup of teas from my mum and playtime with my dog.
How I’m staying active…
I’ve stalked and saved every fitness blogger on Instagram I can find, by the end of lockdown I’m hoping I’ll be able to do a push up.
How I’m staying positive…
Staying hydrated (water not alcohol)! I hope you all are too. Eating right and getting a good night’s sleep (coincidentally a lot better when my brother has switched off the PS4).
Currently bingeing…
Friends, dairy milk caramel sharer bars (for myself) and sky cinema.
How I’m staying connected…
Facetime, I’ve heard you can do group quizzes on house party so I’m downloading that too!
I can’t wait to…
Go for a Nandos! I’m dreaming of medium chicken pitta with peri peri chips and halloumi.
The thing that’s bringing me joy…
Discounted Easter eggs.
How I’m staying active…
The Body Coach home workouts on YouTube and sunset walks.
How I’m staying positive…
I’m using this time to try new things I’ve always wanted to start - like yoga.
Currently bingeing…
‘Serial’ - a true crime podcast and ‘Love is Blind’ on Netflix.
How I’m staying connected…
Plenty of video calls with family and friends. The house party app is a must!
I can’t wait to…
Be Maid of Honour at my sister’s wedding at the end of the year.
